Tune up races are a big part of testing fitness before taking on a huge race like Kona. Several of our athletes chose to spend their last month before Kona racing a variety of "tune-up" style races.
Pierre-Marc Doyon checked his long distance fitness with a go at the Canadian Long Course Nationals. Pierre-Marc, who had not been in the spotlight recently, stomped the field to take the Age Group Long Course Title! We believe his fitness is spot on for Kona.
Roger Thompson recently jumped into Titanium Man in Richland, WA - an Olympic distance race. Roger went 1:55:50 to take the overall win and built a little confidence knowing his speed is still there, even after all those long Kona training sessions.
Ellen Hart, fresh off of her 70.3 Age Group World Championships title in Austria, decided to take it easy this weekend before heading to Chicago for ITU Worlds. Ellen jumped into a local Aquabike race in Colorado and finished first in her age group. Ellen will be headed to Kona where she will defend her age group world title.
Craig Lanza decided to race Ironman Wisconsin, not only test his fitness for Kona 2015, but to see if he could secure a Kona slot for 2016. Craig did just that, finishing in 9:56 and placing 2nd in his age group!
Preparing for next year's edition of Kona is Tim Stutzer. Tim placed 2nd in his age group, securing his slot to Kona, at Ironman Wales. Tim finished the race in a time of 10:52.
